Overview of the Maintenance and Building Affairs Department
The Maintenance and Building Affairs Department was established to ensure that the buildings of the Arab Open University (AOU) are designed using the latest modern technologies in the field of open learning and its electronic strategies.
The AOU branch in Jordan began operating from its new campus at the start of the 2010-2011 academic year. The new campus features smart classrooms and laboratories equipped with the latest electronic technologies, with all classrooms integrated with advanced educational platforms.
Department Responsibilities:
The department oversees the readiness of the building, including cleanliness, general services, and the implementation of new construction projects. It also prepares the necessary tenders and monitors their execution. In addition, the department handles mechanical and electrical maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of all building facilities. Mechanical maintenance includes monitoring the plumbing and heating systems, while electrical maintenance covers the lighting and electrical service rooms.
Security and Technical Systems:
The building is equipped with a variety of technical systems to ensure its safety and efficient operation, including:
- Security system and control systems
- Firefighting system
- Closed-circuit television (CCTV)
- Smoke detection system
- Local area network (LAN)
- Public address system
- Audio-visual equipment system
- Digital public exchange system
The department also completed the solar energy project, which supplies the entire building with the necessary electrical power, enhancing environmental sustainability and energy efficiency at the university.
