Research represents an important commitment of the Arab Open University. The university encourages faculty members to engage in doing research, which is considered as an important factor in promotion and tenure decisions. The Arab Open University is very keen to offer research and conference grants to faculty members to enable them to undertake scholarly research and to attend conferences. In doing so the University aims at:

·         Promoting its reputation

·         Enhancing its visibility

·         Providing faculty members with ample opportunities for self-development through research.

To implement its research strategy, the University creates a special Research Committee. The main functions of this committee are:

·         To formulate policy on all research related matters 

·         To build research capacity 

·         To identify relevant and important topics for research 

·         The allocation of University resources for research 

·         To incentivise faculty members to pursue their specialized research interests 

·         The promotion of research culture at the University 

·         To gear research activity towards pursuing institutional research
