The Arab Open University – Jordan Organizes a Workshop on “The Art of Debate” in Collaboration with Middle East Plus
The Faculty of Media and Communication at the Arab Open University – Jordan organized a specialized workshop entitled “The Art of Debate and the Development of Critical Thinking", in collaboration with Middle East Plus, on the University campus. The workshop was attended by 25 male and female students, along with a number of faculty members from the College.
The workshop was delivered by Mr. Sayel Al-Dhalain, Executive Director of Middle East Plus, who addressed a range of skills and techniques related to the art of debate, including how to construct arguments, manage dialogue, communicate effectively, analyze ideas, and strengthen students' critical-thinking skills. The workshop also featured practical exercises and activities that provided participants with an opportunity to apply the skills discussed in an interactive setting.
The workshop was also attended by faculty members Dr. Shalash Al-Zyoud and Dr. Maram Al-Rawabdeh, in addition to Dr. Faisal Ahmad Al-Sarhan, Dean of the Faculty. The event was held in an interactive atmosphere that contributed to enriching discussions and enhancing participants' dialogue and opinion-sharing skills.
Dr. Faisal Al-Sarhan, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication, emphasized the importance of organizing such training workshops, noting that they aim to equip students with the ability to manage and deliver debates in a professional and advanced manner. He highlighted their role in strengthening students' media and communication skills, in line with the Faculty's strategic plan to enhance practical and applied learning and bridge the gap between educational outcomes and the requirements of the media labor market.
Dr. Al-Sarhan also expressed his appreciation to Mr. Sayel Al-Dhalain, Executive Director of Middle East Plus, for providing each participating student with an official certificate of participation, in recognition of their engagement in and benefit from this distinguished training program.
