Arab Open University – Jordan Participates in Discussions on Media Programs Development
The Arab Open University – Jordan (AOU) contributes to discussions on media program development during the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission meeting.
The Dean of the College of Media and Communication at the Arab Open University – Jordan, Dr. Faisal Al-Sarhan, participated in a collaborative meeting organized by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) yesterday at the Jordan Media Institute (JMI). The event was held under the patronage of HRH Princess Rym Ali and was attended by the Deans of Media Colleges from Jordanian universities.
Prof. Dr. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah, Chairman of the AQAC, affirmed that work is underway to update the accreditation standards for media programs. This update includes introducing courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Content, and enhancing practical training for students specializing in media.
Dr. Dana Shuqom, CEO of the Jordan Media Institute, praised the existing partnership with the AQAC and its role in enabling academic institutions to keep pace with technological development and the labor market demands. Meanwhile, Tariq Al-Momani, President of the Jordan Press Association, stressed the importance of integration between the Association, universities, and the AQAC to advance the quality of media education.
Dr. Al-Sarhan presented three key interventions that garnered significant attention from the attendees. He focused on reconsidering the naming conventions of journalism and media colleges, developing curricula and applied skills, and enhancing innovation in media education methods.
The Arab Open University – Jordan, through its College of Media and Communication, is working to establish a vision based on preparing media personnel capable of keeping pace with digital developments and labor market transformations, through modern academic programs that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application.
