Honoring Creatives and High Achievers at the Arab Open University – Jordan's Cultural Day Activities
The administration of the Arab Open University – Jordan honored students during its Cultural Day activities, recognizing winners of the anti-smoking awareness competition and academically outstanding students. The event was organized by the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Design in collaboration with the Student Affairs Department, aiming to foster creativity, excellence, and a sense of initiative and social responsibility among students.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mufeed Abu Mousa, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Anas Ghazalat, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Samir Al-Sous, Dean of Student Affairs; along with several members of the academic and administrative staff, and university students.
The competition witnessed wide participation from students across various Jordanian universities, who presented artistic works and visual innovations focusing on raising awareness about the dangers of smoking. They employed both digital and traditional artistic methods that reflected their awareness and creative sensibilities. The first place was awarded to Jamal Harb from the Arab Open University – Jordan, the second place to Ahmad Al-Khatib from Philadelphia University, and the third place to Tayma' Firas from the American University in Madaba.
Additionally, a select group of academically outstanding students from various disciplines and levels were honored in recognition of their efforts and excellence in their educational journey. This initiative aims to motivate them to continue their dedication and success. The honorees included: Mays Al-Jarjawi and Sara Al-Khalayleh from the Faculty of Education; Layla Sabritsi and Dania Haj Ali from the Faculty of Languages; and Tamara Al-Asi from the Faculty of Media and Communication.
In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Samir Al-Sous emphasized that this recognition aligns with the university's vision to promote a culture of excellence and creativity among students, appreciating both individual and collective efforts that integrate educational missions with social responsibility.
This event was part of the comprehensive Cultural Day organized by the university, which included various exhibitions and cultural seminars aimed at providing a holistic educational environment that celebrates knowledge, culture, and creativity.
