Training Grants to Enhance the Capacities of Journalism Students in Specialized Health Reporting
The Faculty of Journalism and Media, represented by its Dean, Dr. Faisal Ahmad Al-Sarhan, and in collaboration with the Royal Health Awareness Society, is pleased to announce the availability of 20 specialized training grants for students of the Faculty of Journalism and Media. These grants aim to enhance students’ capacities in the development and production of specialized media content on topics related to sexual and reproductive health, research and media analysis techniques, ethics of health journalism, specialized journalistic writing, and bridging communication gaps.
All interested students are encouraged to register their names with Ms. Farah Al-Namrouti no later than Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in preparation for the selection process, which will be conducted based on predetermined criteria.
Training Details:
Through this program, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to design and develop media products that contribute to improving health awareness in society. Students will also be encouraged to apply their acquired knowledge by producing four media products, each focusing on a specific topic within the field of sexual and reproductive health covered during the training. These submissions will be evaluated by a specialized committee, and honorary awards will be presented for the best media product in each category.
Training Topics Include:
· Introduction to Health Journalism and its significance
· Scientific concepts related to reproductive and sexual health and reproductive rights
· Research methodologies and skills in health-related topics, including addressing rumors and misinformation
· Mobile-based digital content production skills
· Journalistic writing and podcast preparation techniques
· Techniques for producing specialized health reports
· Communication skills, body language, and techniques for information gathering
· Skills for bridging communication gaps and building trust
Additional Information:
· Students who successfully complete the program will receive a "Certified Health Journalist" certificate.
· The training will take place between April 20–22, 2025.
· A graduation ceremony for participating students from the four universities (Arab Open University, Middle East University, Yarmouk University, and Petra University) will be held on June 19, 2025, during which the best media product in each category will be announced.
