When the dream becomes a reality; a reality from which we derive ourselves and our existence, we have put the first step on the road to success and self-realization. Our story began in 2014 when my husband and I decided to complete our academic career after a break of more than 14 years from studying, due to immersion in work, life and family matters.
The Arab Open University was our first destination to be able to work and study together, and majoring in English literature was the only choice for my husband who had always dreamed of diving into it and navigating the depths of literary works and theories of criticism. He has completed the undergraduate program with high GPA, and was first in his cohort. He re-enrolled in the master's program in English literature, and in the years of study, the Arab Open University gave him the honor to teach there, which increased his love and attachment to this specialization.
During the completion of the registration process and preparing the papers, a new dream had begun to appear. My high school diploma issued from Syria was equated to a Jordanian high school after a full year of waiting, and my journey began in 2017 after a break of nearly 14 years from school, and it was another step towards self-realization and we set out. My husband and I are again in the same university to live a student life. To make matters more joyful, I found in the specialization of special education (learning difficulties) what I aspire to in standing with people with special needs and those whom society described as learning difficulties, to extract the treasure from within them and preserve their effective role in society.
Iam now in the fourth year and my name is still on the honor board, and it was not easy, but the pleasure of specialization, the companionship of books, and consulting professors at my university helped me to put my name on the wall of the honor board throughout the years of study. We are now reaping the fruits of our effort, and it has a delicious taste, which makes us forget all the fatigue and nights of sleeplessness, hand in hand we make the impossible, and there is no despair with ambition and persistence.
THANK YOU, Arab Open University
