Faculty of Communication and Media at the Arab Open University and the Jordan News Agency "Petra" Discuss Ways to Enhance Training and Applied Cooperation for Students
The Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media at the Arab Open University, Dr. Faisal Al-Sarhan, paid an official visit today to the headquarters of the Jordan News Agency (Petra), where he met with the Agency's Director General, Ms. Firoze Mubaideen, to discuss ways to strengthen joint cooperation between the two sides in academic and training fields.
During the meeting, it was agreed to host 41 male and female students from the faculty next Wednesday, corresponding to July 29, 2026, for a field visit to the agency's headquarters. The visit aims to introduce students to the latest equipment, technologies, tools, and methodologies used in writing, monitoring, editing, and publishing news, contributing to expanding their knowledge and refining their practical and applied skills in the specializations of Public Relations and Digital Journalism.
The meeting also witnessed discussions on signing a new cooperation and training agreement between the Jordan News Agency and the Faculty of Communication and Media at the Arab Open University in the coming few days. This aims to frame joint work and provide sustainable training opportunities for the faculty's students, qualifying them to enter the labor market efficiently and competently.
Dr. Al-Sarhan emphasized the importance of this partnership with a national media institution of Petra's stature, pointing out the faculty's continuous keenness to integrate the theoretical aspect with practical application to supply the media sector with trained competencies in accordance with the latest digital standards.
