The Arab Open University – Jordan Celebrates Founder’s Day with Diverse Educational and Developmental Activities
On the anniversary of Founder’s Day, commemorating the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Arab Open University – Jordan, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Student Council, organized a comprehensive range of activities on campus. These events reflected the university’s mission of women’s empowerment, development, education, and human capacity building.
The activities were inaugurated by Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi, President of the University, in the presence of Dr. Anas Ghazalat, Vice President, and Dr. Samir Al-Sous, Dean of Student Affairs. The events took place in an educational atmosphere that combined knowledge with developmental initiatives, reaffirming the university’s vision of community support and the promotion of education and development values.
    The activities included:
    • A charity bazaar in support of productive families, where a number of university students showcased and sold their products, fostering entrepreneurship and strengthening ties with the local community.
    • Welcoming students from Dar Al-Salam Secondary School for Girls, which included a campus tour, an introductory lecture, and answering students’ questions about university life and educational opportunities.
    • A workshop titled “Employing Artificial Intelligence Applications in Teaching the Arabic Language,” presented by Dr. Mufeed Abu Mousa, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Samir Al-Sous, highlighting the latest educational technologies to enhance Arabic language skills.
    • A classical Arabic public speaking competition, aimed at developing students’ presentation skills and self-confidence. The competition resulted in first place (joint winners) for student Mohammed Abu Safiya and student Suzan Al-Halabi, while student Mohammed Al-Mashharawi won second place.
    • A documentary screening on the life of the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, highlighting his educational and developmental journey and his values in building individuals and society.
Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi emphasized that organizing these activities is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support innovative education, empower women, and promote developmental values, in line with its non-profit educational mission.
She stated, quoting the vision of the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, “Building the human being is what our Arab societies need most,” noting that these activities serve as a platform to strengthen education, development, and the empowerment of youth and women in the community
