A Distinguished Achievement by English Language Students at the Arab Open University – Jordan
A team of students from the English Language and Literature program at the Faculty of Language Studies at the Arab Open University – Jordan achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning the regional English-language debate competition, which brought together the university’s branches in Jordan and the State of Kuwait. The debate centered on the issue of globalization and its negative impact on identity.
The competition was held under the patronage of the Dean of Graduate Studies at the Arab Open University, Professor Dr. Aziz Thabet, and under the supervision of the Local Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Dr. Ola Kattaneh, as well as the training supervisor, Dr. Bayan Al-Dahiyat, Head of the Conversation Center at the Faculty.
The judging panel comprised a distinguished group of academics from various branches of the university: Dr. Sameh Jalil (Saudi Arabia), Dr. Ne‘am Abdel Hafiz (Egypt), and Dr. Mohammed Diab (Bahrain).
The winning team included the students Malik Al-Rifa‘i, Dania Haj Ali, Violet Al-Duwairi, Wurood Khalil, and Raneem Al-Daqs, who demonstrated an advanced level of debating skills, critical thinking, and fluent use of the English language.
