The English Debate Team of the Arab Open University – Jordan achieved a remarkable accomplishment in the second regional English-language debate competition, which brought together teams from Jordan and Egypt. The debate centered on the topic: "The Overuse of Technology and Its Impact on Human Intelligence." The students demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and the ability to effectively discuss complex issues, earning admiration from both the audience and the judging panel.
The competition was organized under the supervision of Dr. Aziz Thabit, Dean of Graduate Studies at the Arab Open University, with direct oversight by Dr. Ola Kattanah, the local Dean of the College of Languages – Jordan. The team was trained by Dr. Sami Khawaldeh, Head of the Conversation Center at the college, and supported during their preparation and the competition by Dr. Ahmed Ali, a faculty member.
Dr. Tahir Hamdi, Director of the Arab Open University – Jordan, praised this significant achievement, emphasizing the importance of such academic activities in developing students' skills in thinking, analysis, and debate. She highlighted the university's commitment to providing opportunities that contribute to enhancing their capabilities and preparing them to face future challenges with confidence and competence.
The winning team comprised students: Leila Spretzi, Ranim Al-Daqis, Mohammad Abu Ghalyun, Roud Khalil, and Tulin Al-Rifa'i.
