Student Council at the Arab Open University – Jordan Elects Its Executive Committee
The Student Affairs Department held the first meeting of the Student Council at the Arab Open University – Jordan, attended by Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi, the University Director; Dr. Mufid Abu Mousa, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs; Dr. Anas Ghazalat, Deputy Director for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dr. Sameer Al-Sous, Dean of Student Affairs, along with the election committee and elected council members.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi to the council members, followed by internal elections to select the council’s executive committee. Abdullah Al-Dibs was elected as President, Rawaan Salem as Vice President, Hani Rasheed as Secretary, and Adam Jaber as Treasurer. The elections were conducted in a democratic and participatory atmosphere reflecting the spirit of institutional student engagement.
During the session, the elected council members took the oath, affirming their commitment to serve and represent the students with honesty and responsibility.
In his speech, Dr. Sameer Al-Sous, Dean of Student Affairs, stated: “We are proud of this achievement, which reflects our students' awareness and their belief in the importance of participating in university life. We hope this council will serve as a model of giving and cooperation and will effectively contribute to representing student interests and advancing student initiatives on campus.”
For her part, Professor Dr. Tahrir Hamdi praised the efforts that contributed to the success of the electoral process, commending the role of the Student Council in strengthening communication between the university administration and the students, and reaffirming the university’s continued support for meaningful student initiatives.
