Jordan Branch
The Jordan Branch is the first Branch of the Arab Open University to be established back in 2002. The Branch started its operation in June 2002 in a four-storey building in Al-Rabia District.
The Agreement reached between the Arab Open University and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Talal Bin Abdul-Aziz, on behalf of AOU; and by His Excellency Minister of Higher Education and Academic Research, on behalf of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in December 2001. In its major part, the Agreement is intended to pave the way for the establishment of a branch for the AOU in Jordan and to facilitate its mission with governmental and other institutions operating in the Kingdom.
The Government of Jordan also donated the Jordan Branch a plot of land of about 10,000 square meters for the construction of its permanent building in Tabarbour area.
In 2003, the Branch leased an additional temporary building adjacent to the present building to accommodate the ever-increasing number of students during this transitional period and until the permanent building has been finalized.

Academic instruction at the Arab Open University started in early October, 2002.
