Arab Open University – Jordan Participates in the Conference “Towards a New Narrative of Literary and Cultural Studies of Arab Diaspora Literature”
Dr. Ahmad Ali, a faculty member at the Arab Open University – Jordan, Faculty of Language Studies, participated in the international conference Towards a New Narrative of Literary and Cultural Studies of Arab Diaspora Literature. The conference was recently held at the Council for British Research in the Levant and organized by the specialized committee of the Contemporary Arab Diasporic Literary Studies group at the University of Jordan, with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers and academics.
Dr. Ahmad Ali presented a research paper titled:
‘Are these the people who I wanted to embrace!?’: Hybridity reconsidered in the diasporic Palestinian cultural struggle for liberation,
in which he offered an in-depth critique of the uses of certain literary theories—particularly the theory of Hybridity—in literary and cultural analysis. The paper examined how these theories are tied to attempts at creating a shared language and a reconciliatory context between colonizers and peoples who continue to suffer under various forms of modern colonialism. The study posed a central question regarding the ability of this theory to foster a genuine and equitable dialogue between the two sides.
Dr. Ahmad Ali’s participation comes as part of the Arab Open University’s efforts to support scientific research, enhance cultural dialogue, and build knowledge bridges through active engagement in international academic conferences.
