The Open Arab University – Jordan recently held an introductory workshop on the Abdul Hameed Shoman Scientific Research Support Fund 2025, attended by the University President, all faculty members, and postgraduate students and researchers.
The workshop aimed to highlight the application process for securing funding for scientific research, particularly applied research. The fund offers support of up to 20,000 JOD per project . It covered key application requirements and opened the floor for participants to ask questions about the submission process, enhancing researchers’ opportunities to gain support for community-impacting projects.
Ms. Ala’a Al‑Sharman, representing the Shoman Foundation’s Scientific Research Support Fund, provided a detailed overview of how to apply for funding at both local and Arab levels. She emphasized the importance of developing applied research projects that meet Jordanian societal needs and align with national priorities
In her closing remarks, Dr. Tahreer Hamdi expressed gratitude to the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation for its pioneering role in scientific research support across the Arab world. She affirmed the university’s commitment to empowering its students and researchers to benefit from such valuable funding opportunities—and to contribute effectively to society through applied scientific research.
