A Humanitarian Initiative: Arab Open University – Jordan Distributes Water and Supports Students During Exams
As part of its commitment to community engagement and its positive interaction with its surroundings, Arab Open University – Jordan has launched a field initiative to support high school students during the current summer exam session.
The initiative aimed to provide both moral and logistical support to students during their exams, whether inside or outside the exam halls, affirming the university’s dedication to serving the local community—especially during this critical stage in students’ lives. The university ensured outreach to schools near its campus, coordinating with the Ministry of Education directorates to guarantee the initiative’s effectiveness and reach.
This initiative consisted of two main components:
Support inside exam halls: In coordination with the Ministry of Education directorates, water bottles were supplied early enough to be delivered, with the Ministry organizing the distribution inside the halls.
Support outside exam halls: University volunteer teams carried out field visits to schools, distributing water bottles to students and their families waiting outside the halls, aiming to reduce stress, instill reassurance, and create a comfortable atmosphere during long waiting periods.
Additionally, the initiative sought to foster a spirit of volunteering and community belonging among the university’s students and administrative and academic staff by involving them in the field activities, cultivating a sense of social responsibility and active participation in community service.
In this regard, Dr. Anas Ghazzalat, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, stated that through these initiatives, “we strive to be close to our community and students—not limited to classroom education, but extending to supporting students at all stages of their lives and instilling hope in their spirits.”
This initiative reaffirms Arab Open University – Jordan’s awareness and humanitarian role and its keenness to build bridges of communication with various segments of society — especially youth embarking on a new academic phase.
