Arab Open University – Jordan Holds First Advisory Council Meeting for the Master’s in Educational Technology Program
Amman – On Monday, June 30, 2025, the Master’s in Educational Technology program at Arab Open University – Jordan held its inaugural Advisory Council meeting in the main conference hall at the university. The meeting brought together leading academics, educational experts, and representatives from both public and private education sectors.
    Presiding Over the Meeting:
    • Dr. Mufeed Abu Mousa – Chair of the Advisory Council
    • Prof. Muayyad Al‑Hamidi – Member & Rapporteur
    • Prof. Aayed Al‑Harish – Member
    • Prof. Ziad Al‑Namrawi – Representing Al‑Zaytoonah University
    • Dr. Abdul‑Fattah Shumout – Director General, Al‑Rowad International Schools
    • Dr. Jafar Awad – Director General, Al‑Nasser Modern Schools
    • Representatives of the program’s students were also in attendance.
Dr. Abu Mousa opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the Advisory Council’s vital role in supporting the program’s quality, aligning it with labor market needs, and fostering effective partnerships with local communities and educational institutions.
During the meeting, council members reviewed the academic and development plan for the program and discussed its current learning outcomes. They stressed the need to update these outcomes to keep pace with technological advancements and the requirements of Jordan’s National Qualifications Framework.
Student representatives offered several suggestions concerning teaching and assessment methods, highlighting the importance of expanding internships. Their contributions were well received, and council members recommended incorporating more practical, project-based components into the curriculum.
As part of community partnership initiatives, the council discussed a proposal to host 50 secondary school students, allowing them to experience university life by attending selected lectures and academic activities. They would receive temporary student ID cards issued by the university. This initiative aims to introduce younger students to available university majors and motivate them to pursue higher education.
Key Recommendations from the Advisory Council:
    1. Review and update certain courses to include new practical applications
    2. Strengthen collaboration with local schools to provide field training and project-based opportunities
    3. Launch the secondary-school-students hosting initiative during the upcoming semester
    4. Hold regular follow-up meetings to monitor the implementation of recommendations and program development plans
